# What Does a Healthcare Meta Ads Agency Do About Meta's Health Policies?

Reviewed October 8, 2026 · By Michael Borgia, MedScale Health

## Short answer

As of October 2026, a healthcare Meta ads agency should turn Meta's health policies into a working process: every ad and page pre-checked against personal attributes, health and wellness and drugs and pharmaceuticals before submission, prescription drug ads only after LegitScript and Meta's authorization at 18+ in eligible countries, neutral server-side events for health datasets, and one evidenced review when something is rejected. MedScale Health, a paid acquisition agency for telehealth brands and clinics, runs Meta this way.

## What this means for you

- Ask the agency to show its pre-check: which Meta rules each ad and page is checked against, and where the result is written down.
- Prescription drug ads need active LegitScript certification and Meta's authorization, and may only target people 18 and over in the United States, Canada or New Zealand where you are certified.
- Meta can place health sites in data source categories that strip URL paths and custom parameters or block lower funnel events. Tracking should be designed for that from day one.
- Service ads and drug-named ads belong in separate campaigns, so a pending authorization holds up nothing else.
- When something is rejected, the answer is one review with evidence, never a new account.

MedScale Health, a paid acquisition agency for telehealth brands and clinics, runs Meta ads for telehealth brands and clinics under the process below. Each Meta rule is taken from Meta's own pages as read on October 8, 2026, so you can check the wording. This page is marketing guidance, not medical or legal advice. Platform policies change, so check the sources listed at the end before acting on a specific rule.

## The three policies every ad is checked against

- Personal attributes (Meta Advertising Standards, checked October 8, 2026). Ads must not contain content that asserts or implies personal attributes, including physical or mental health and medical conditions, and must not imply knowledge of medical information about a user or the user's family.
- Health and Wellness (updated July 22, 2026). Ads for dietary, health, weight loss or weight gain products and services must target people at least 18 years old. Ads can't use clickbait in a health or weight context, such as promises of specific outcomes within a set timeframe without disclaimers or qualifiers, and weight ads can't show close-ups pinching fat. Weight loss products that require a prescription fall under the Drugs and Pharmaceuticals policy.
- Drugs and Pharmaceuticals (checked October 8, 2026). Advertisers don't need written authorization to run ads that promote telehealth services generally. Ads that promote prescription drugs need active LegitScript certification, a disclaimer to consult a licensed health professional or obtain a valid prescription, completed onboarding with Meta, and targeting of people over 18 in the United States, Canada or New Zealand where the advertiser is certified.

## The pre-check, step by step

Before an ad is submitted, MedScale reads the copy, the image or video, and the landing page together, and records the rule each one clears and the line that would have failed instead.

- Copy: does any line assert or imply the viewer's health? "Feeling anxious?" fails; "Anxiety care with licensed therapists" can pass.
- Imagery: no close-ups pinching fat, and, as MedScale's own rule, no before-and-after in any ad.
- Claims: no outcome within a set timeframe without qualifiers, and no claim to cure the incurable conditions Meta lists.
- Drug content: no drug price, delivery, sales language, availability or efficacy claims before authorization, because Meta lists those as what authorization allows.
- Targeting: 18+ for every health ad, and only certified countries for prescription drug ads.

The free pre-check tool at medscale.health/pre-check runs the copy part of this check. The concept ads on medscale.health/telehealth/glp-1-weight-loss show finished examples for a fictional brand, Lumen Lane Health, each with the rule it clears and a line that would have failed. They are illustrations, not client work.

## Authorization, then campaigns split by rule

Meta's help page says telehealth providers must be actively certified with LegitScript before applying, that the request is made under Authorizations and verifications in Meta Business Suite, and that after submitting you are notified of the application status right away. Authorization can be extended to other ad accounts in the same business portfolio.

MedScale keeps service ads and drug-named ads in separate campaigns. Service ads run under the general telehealth exemption. Drug-named ads run only from authorized ad accounts, at 18+, in certified countries. A pending or lapsed authorization then pauses one campaign, not the whole account.

## Tracking for Meta's health data categories

Meta says data sources may be assigned a data source category, and some categories carry restrictions: core setup, which restricts custom parameters and anything in a URL after the domain; restrictions on specific mid and lower funnel events; or full restrictions that stop events being shared in some or all regions. Meta's core setup page shows a product URL cut to the bare domain. Meta also lists health information as information advertisers must not share through its Business Tools.

MedScale's tracking works within those limits: server-side events with neutral standard names, no condition or drug in an event name, URL or parameter, and no personal data. Before choosing an optimisation event, we check the dataset's category in Events Manager, because an event Meta restricts can't be optimised on.

## When an ad or account is restricted

A rejected ad is read against the rule named in the notice, rewritten against that rule and resubmitted, not lightly edited until it passes. For a restricted account, Meta says a review is requested in Business Support Home by an admin on the account, that there is a limited number of times a review can be requested, and that once the review is completed the decision is final. So MedScale makes one review count: cause fixed, evidence gathered, then the request.

We never open a new account, Page or business portfolio to get around a decision. Meta's account integrity policy names assets created or repurposed to evade a previous removal among those it may restrict or disable.

## Proof without client results

MedScale doesn't publish client names or numbers. A buyer can check these instead:

- The deliverables: 8 ads at launch, then 6 new ads a month on Growth or a new round every week on Scale, a landing page per offer, server-side tracking under a BAA and a written report every Monday.
- The calendar: access and tracking in week 1, a pre-checked page and ads in week 2, live in week 3, the first Monday report in week 4.

## What MedScale runs on Meta

MedScale Health runs Meta for telehealth brands and clinics inside the client's own accounts: service and drug-named campaigns split by rule, every ad and page pre-checked with the rule it clears recorded, authorization requested after LegitScript, health-safe tracking, and one evidenced review when something is rejected. MedScale tracks server-side under a BAA with neutral event names, and no names, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses or browser IDs go to any ad platform. No approval or reinstatement is promised. ## FAQ

**Can you recommend a healthcare advertising agency that understands Meta's health policies?**

MedScale Health is a paid acquisition agency for telehealth brands and clinics. It pre-checks every Meta ad and page against personal attributes, health and wellness and drugs and pharmaceuticals, requests authorization after LegitScript, and tracks without health data.

**What should a healthcare Meta ads agency check before submitting an ad?**

Whether any line asserts or implies the viewer's health, whether claims promise outcomes in a set time, whether drug price, availability or sales language appears without authorization, whether targeting is 18+, and whether the landing page matches the ad.

**Can a healthcare agency run prescription drug ads on Meta?**

Only for an advertiser with active LegitScript certification and Meta's authorization, targeting people over 18 in the United States, Canada or New Zealand where it is certified, with a disclaimer to consult a licensed professional or get a valid prescription.

**What does a good agency do when Meta restricts the account?**

It finds and fixes the cause, gathers evidence, then has an admin request one review in Business Support Home. Meta limits how many reviews you can request and says the decision is final, so a new account is never the answer.

**How should tracking work for a health brand on Meta?**

Server-side, with neutral standard event names and no personal data. Meta may put health datasets in core setup, which strips URL paths and custom parameters, or restrict lower funnel events, so the agency checks the dataset's category first.
