Answer

My Facebook Profile Was Disabled and I Run Our Ads. What Now?

Reviewed October 8, 20265 min readBy Michael Borgia, MedScale Health

Short answer

As of October 2026, appeal the profile first: Meta says you can appeal a suspension within 180 days, and after an unsuccessful appeal you can't request another review. Keep the business running through a second admin who was already on the business portfolio, since Meta says other members may still be able to advertise. Never hand access to a spouse's or friend's profile; Meta restricts accounts used to evade enforcement. MedScale Health, a paid acquisition agency for telehealth brands and clinics, sets up admin access this way.

What this means for you

  • A disabled personal profile is its own enforcement level, separate from the ad account, the Page and the business portfolio.
  • Appeal by logging in to Facebook. Meta says you can appeal within 180 days, that the window varies by region, and that after an unsuccessful appeal you won't be able to request another review.
  • The business keeps running through another admin. Meta says other members of the business portfolio, ad account or Page may still be able to advertise, but ad accounts where the restricted person is the only user may also be disabled.
  • Don't move access to a spouse's, partner's or friend's profile so you can keep running ads. Meta restricts accounts used to evade its enforcement, and that profile can be restricted too.
  • Meta Verified support lists account access and security among the issues it handles. Ad account restriction appeals are not on its list.
  • Every business portfolio needs two verified admins before anything goes wrong.

MedScale Health, a paid acquisition agency for telehealth brands and clinics, runs Meta ads from the client's own business portfolio, so the admin structure on that portfolio is part of every setup. This page covers the case where the person who runs the ads has had their personal Facebook profile suspended or disabled, using Meta's help pages as read on October 8, 2026. This page is marketing guidance, not medical or legal advice. Platform policies change, so check the sources listed at the end before acting on a specific rule.

What Meta says happens to the profile

Meta's help page for disabled personal accounts says Meta may suspend an account that may not follow its Community Standards and that you can appeal the suspension within 180 days. If you don't appeal within 180 days, or the appeal isn't successful, the account is permanently disabled and, in Meta's words, "You won't be able to request another review of the decision." The page also says the appeal window varies by region, and that Meta may disable an account without suspending it first for severe or time-sensitive violations. Its examples of causes include misrepresenting your identity to evade enforcement.

Meta's advertising restrictions page treats the personal profile as one of four levels, with the business portfolio, the ad account and the Page. If a personal profile is restricted from advertising, Meta says that person can't advertise or create new ads, and any ad accounts where they are the only attached user may also be disabled.

Appeal the profile, once and properly

The appeal starts by logging in to Facebook, where Meta prompts you to appeal. Because an unsuccessful appeal ends the matter, prepare before you start: the email or on-screen notice that names the reason, identification if Meta asks for it, and a short factual explanation. If you think the profile was hacked, use Meta's hacked account recovery, which its help pages treat as a separate path. The appeal is made from the profile itself, so the person whose profile it is has to file it.

Keep the business running through a second admin

Business Support Home needs an admin. Meta's help page on restricted advertising accounts says you must be an admin on the account to request a review. If the disabled profile was the only admin of the business portfolio, nobody can request reviews or manage the assets while it is down. If a second admin was already in place, Meta says other members of the business portfolio, ad account or Page may still be able to advertise, and that admin can keep working from their own login.

That is why MedScale's setup rule is two verified admins on every business portfolio, both real people at the business with their own profiles, before any ad runs. Meta's Page help makes the same point for Pages: a Page with no person who has full control is automatically deactivated and scheduled for deletion. One admin is a single point of failure.

Why a family member's profile makes it worse

When the only admin is disabled, the tempting move is to add a spouse, partner or friend and carry on from their profile. Meta's Account Integrity standard says it may restrict or disable accounts and business assets that are owned by the same person or entity as an account that has been disabled, that are created or repurposed to evade a previous account removal, or that are otherwise used to evade its enforcement actions or review processes. A second profile used so the same person can keep running the same ads fits that wording, and if it is restricted the business has lost two profiles instead of one.

Facebook's Terms point the same way. They say you must not give access to your Facebook account to others, and that if Meta disables your account for a violation, you agree not to create another account without Meta's permission. A second admin who was on the portfolio before the problem, does their own job and logs in with their own profile is ordinary business structure. A profile added afterwards to stand in for the disabled one is the pattern Meta describes.

What Meta Verified support can and can't do

Meta Verified for businesses includes support from human agents by chat and email on all plans, with phone support and case monitoring on higher plans. Meta's help page lists the issues it covers: subscription management, billing for the subscription, verification status, general account access or security issues, and Profile or Page editing, review and management. Ad account restriction appeals are not on that list. Meta's Meta Verified terms say account support depends on an active subscription, and Meta says contacting support in Meta Business Suite needs full control of the business portfolio, which a disabled admin no longer has. Treat it as a help desk, not an appeal route.

What MedScale does

MedScale Health checks the admin list on every business portfolio before launch and asks the business to add a second verified admin where there is only one. When a profile is disabled mid-campaign, MedScale helps the owner prepare the profile appeal, confirms which assets the remaining admin can still use, and keeps campaigns running from the client's own portfolio where Meta's rules allow it. MedScale never moves access to a stand-in profile. MedScale never opens a replacement account, Page or business portfolio to get around a platform's decision, and no approval or reinstatement is promised. See Ad Account Rescue at medscale.health/rescue if the ad account is restricted too, or book the free growth audit at medscale.health/audit.

Common questions

01How long do I have to appeal a disabled Facebook profile?
Meta's help page says you can appeal a suspension within 180 days, and that the window varies by region. If you don't appeal in time, or the appeal isn't successful, Meta says the account is permanently disabled and you can't request another review.
02Will our ad account be disabled if my personal profile is?
It can be. Meta says that if a personal profile is restricted from advertising, ad accounts where that person is the only attached user may also be disabled, while other members of the business portfolio, ad account or Page may still be able to advertise.
03Can I make my spouse an admin after my Facebook profile is disabled?
Not as a stand-in. Meta's Account Integrity standard covers accounts owned by the same person as a disabled account and accounts used to evade enforcement. A profile added so the same person keeps running the ads fits that wording and can be restricted too.
04Can Meta Verified support restore our ad account?
Meta lists the issues Meta Verified support handles: subscription and billing, verification status, account access or security, and Profile or Page editing, review and management. Ad account restriction appeals are not on that list, so they still go through Business Support Home.
